Loughborough has a long tradition of welcoming students from all over the world. Today we have around 1,000 international students of which an ever growing number are studying Art and Design at LUSAD.

Long experience has shown that many international students benefit greatly from a period of time to settle into their new environment before starting their academic programmes. So the University organises pre-sessional courses to help provide you with a knowledge of the University and town and to help you tune into local speech patterns.If you are not confident about your English language ability, there is a four-week Intensive Language Course. If you have not studied for some time or have not studied in the UK before, there is a two-week Study Skills Course. There is also a one-week course, containing no English language tuition, which is designed to help you settle down in Loughborough, and find your way around the University and town. In addition the English Language Study Unit offers day and evening classes and the facilities of a self-study language laboratory.International Students’ Programme. This programme is organised by the English Language Study Unit and helps to create a framework for the academic year so that you feel part of the international community. We recognise that coming to study in a foreign country can need special skills and support.

Throughout the year we send you newsletters and organise a social programme which includes the Vice - Chancellor’s Garden Party in June. The University encourages international students to make full use of the medical, counselling and welfare services.
