Current research

Current research is focused on development of sensitive mass-spectrometric based methods for detection and quantitation of bio-molecules, including DNA-adducts, phosphopeptides and phytoestrogens. Methods are being investigated for the separation and amplification of target molecules in complex biological matrices and their detection by ICP-MS and/or organic MS. These include the use of laser ablation, hetero-atom tagging, and various chromatographic and immunoassay techniques. Also of interest is the use of chemometric methods for the interpretation of complex data sets and characterisation of materials of forensic interest.

On-Line Learning:

Investigation of innovative and flexible learning methods especially web-based learning, interactive software packages, case studies etc. Development of interactive teaching and assessment materials for on-line delivery.
