Lunch and Lecture at Loughborough – 2010 Sessions
The output from the 2010 sessions is presented below (most recent first).
Session 12: Airport Planning
The debate over airport development in the UK covers a lot of transport planning issues: the length of time in decision-making, the range of spatial dimensions (regional, national, international), and the stakeholders to consider (e.g. general public with noise concerns, industry, Government). Airport planning has to take account of both economic considerations and environmental concerns in order to develop in a sustainable manner. The session will cover both of these aspects, together with a range of UK airport examples.
Speakers: Chris Cain, Independent Consultant (formerly Airport Project Director at Newquay Cornwall Airport and Regional Airports Manager at the Department for Transport); Stephen Holt, Transport Planner (formerly Ground Transportation Planning Manager at Birmingham International Airport); and Mike Snelgrove, Lecturer in information technology and systems, University of Wales Institute, Cardiff.
