GARNET in Bangladesh
Dr Bilqis Hoque at the EPRC co-ordinates this network designed for users, funders and practitioners of research. Representatives from the 400 organisations which currently form the network meet regularly to present case study examples and share information of mutual interest. The network carries out its work through workshops of which there are two kinds: Local and International.

Local workshops are organised at sub-district level and only local stakeholders are invited. Workshops topics are driven by local demand. The International /National workshops are held in capital cities reginally and usually attract external speakers who deliver lectures. Since the inception of the LNC, 35 such national /international workshops have been held.

The network has also been invovled in the formulation of Vision 2025 for drinking water and sanitation based on local consultation and information exchange on arsenic mitigation in the water supply.

In recent years, the network has organised workshops on the following:
1993: The Role of GARNET in Bangladesh 1994: Involvement of NGOs in Water Supply and Sanitation Programmes in the 1996-2000 Five Year Plan 1995: Disaster Preparedness and Environmental Health Management in Rural Areas: 1997: Problem of Arsenic in Drinking Water.
