About Us
The principal aim of the Department is to conduct high quality teaching and research relating to its four subject disciplines: Politics, International Relations, European Studies and Contemporary History. We explore the political, social, and historic forces which mould national societies and the international system. To do so, we draw on Social Science disciplines and History to provide a leaning environment offering students varied perspectives on our core subjects; we also offer a range of opportunities for those who wish to enhance their foreign language skills and to spend part of their studies outside of the UK. The Department has well-established links with a wide range of partner Universities and is embedded in scholarly networks throughout the UK and overseas.
