The School of Mathematics comprises the Department of Mathematical Sciences and the Mathematics Education Centre and is committed to excellence in both teaching and research. There are over 500 students studying for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees on a wide variety of programmes.
The Department of Mathematical Sciences is active in high-quality, cutting-edge research across a broad spectrum of mathematics and its applications. Staff from all over the world provide a rich environment in which to study.
The Mathematics Education Centre is home to sigma - the UK's only Centre for Excellence in the Provision of University-Wide Mathematics and Statistics Support. It oversees the teaching of mathematics to engineering undergraduates, houses the Mathematics Learning Support Centre, and is the focus for a wide range of national teaching and learning initiatives.
