Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering at Loughborough has improved on its already strong research performance according to the results of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).
As part of a highly successful performance across the Faculty of Engineering, 95% of the Department's research activity was deemed to be of an international standard.
Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering submitted 100% of its academic staff for assessment as part of the 2008 RAE, indicating that international standard research is being undertaken across the whole breadth of the department. This achievement builds on the results of the 2001 RAE when the department was awarded a grade 5 rating.
The department's results are summarized below:
- Ranked 7th in the UK in both the Times Higher and The Guardian #
- 20% of the Department's research is classed as ‘world-leading' (rated the maximum 4*) #
- 95% of the Department's research is of an international standard (rated 2*, 3* or 4*) #
