Reggae Reggae star gives student entrepreneurs a taste for success
Reggae Reggae star Levi Roots shares the secrets of his entrepreneurial success
Popular chef, musician and entrepreneur Levi Roots, of Reggae Reggae Sauce fame, will be visiting Loughborough Students’ Union on 29 March, to share the secrets of his entrepreneurial success.
Part of Loughborough University’s ongoing programme of Student Enterprise events, which gives students an opportunity to network and learn from real-life entrepreneurs, Levi will tell his amazing story of triumph over adversity and entrepreneurship at its best through an engaging, interactive and musical session.
Levi quickly rose to fame after appearing on BBC 2’s Dragons’ Den in 2007, where he introduced his home-made Reggae Reggae Sauce and received backing from entrepreneurs Peter Jones and Richard Farleigh in return for a 40% stake in his business. After appearing on the TV show, Reggae Reggae sauce won an initial exclusive listing at Sainsbury’s and within six weeks the sauce was on the supermarket shelf and demand was incredible. Today the sauce is stocked by all major retailers and extended to a range of new flavours and products.
Levi will be treating the students with some delicious on-stage cooking and will share tips of the trade on how to cook great tasting, healthy food quickly and easily. With his roots in Reggae, Levi will also be performing live music with his 7-piece band of professional musicians, playing his own material - including the fabulous Reggae Reggae Sauce song - and classic reggae hits from across the years.
“All Loughborough University students are encouraged to come along to this free evening event, which fuses food, music and education to create a fun way to learn from an experienced entrepreneur”, says Amy Bowmar, Student Enterprise Officer.
“Our exciting annual programme of extra-curricular student enterprise events is designed to help students develop practical business skills and enterprising thinking. This Levi Roots event is a great example of how you can enhance your personal development while at university in a fun, sociable, inspirational and educating way,” she continues.
