Resource Centre Network Development
A key objective of WELL, has been capacity development within partner organisations of the network to deliver consistent, quality assured, resource centre services. WELL provides technical support and information services to the water, sanitation and environmental health sector. Information is provided in a variety of formats, including: responses to technical enquiries; fact sheet; briefing notes and consultancy reports.
Capacity development at WELL : 3 key principles
Capacity development is about more than isolated or one-off 'training' events or series of sector 'workshops'. It is about making tangible links to programme, contractual and organisational objectives. Above all it is about linking learning to live experience to improve outputs, processes and products.

Learn @WELL modules are available online for use by individuals or institutions. You can gain access to the basic module material, self-assessment questions and references (modules are updated to reflect lessons learned) through a simple registration form. learn @WELL Modules This module is designed to help learners consider and improve their writing ability, particularly in relation to writing reports. This module is designed to enable those working for partner organisations to develop the skills and abilities required to become an effective consultant. The emphasis is on short-term consultancy assignments. Comment on the value of the module for daily working at SEUF, India "The team members, unanimously, are of the view that the information and inputs given in the different units impart immensely to the enhancement of knowledge and skills, not only in the consultancy field but also in the day to day working of SEUF. " Developing Consultancy Services The focus of consultancy organizations varies. Some may see themselves primarily as engineering or planning consultants. Others may focus strongly on financial and economic analysis. Others may feel that their specialist knowledge and skills relate to social development, community organization or governance. This module is intended primarily for those who are involved in efforts to improve water supply, drainage and sanitation services. However, we recognize that these efforts must go beyond purely technical concerns to address the social, institutional and financial aspects of service provision and hope that this recognition is reflected in the content of the module. This module is about analysing information, and in particular about the skills required to carry out that analysis. Analysis involved organising information on a particular subject, or situation, in order to understand that subject better. This might involve dividing information into smaller parts, so that it can be understood more easily. The way the information is organised and divided requires a range of analytical skills (or methods) and it is these skills that are explained in the module. Emergency Water Supply & Sanitation This module aims to provide a general overview of the assessment, design and implementation of water supply and sanitation in communities affected by disasters and emergencies. Because of its scope and length, there is probably insufficient information to enable the reader to work unaided in an emergency situation but references are provided within the text to other sources that contain more detailed and practical information.
