American Water Works Association (AWWA) is a resource for information for the water profession. AWWA publishes standards, books, manuals, videos, electronic databases and reports. CARE International is a global humanitarian organisation working with over 30 million disadvantaged people each year in 72 of the world's poorest countries. They produce a range of publications, tools and manuals available online. Centre for Rural Technology (CRT), Nepal Document Unit a professional non-governmental organisation engaged in developing and promoting appropriate technologies to meet the basic needs of the rural mass and improving their life support systems. CRT has a Communication and Documentation Unit in which technology related books, journals and documents are available. Department for International Development (DFID) Publications All DFID's own publications are free of charge. Including books, periodicals, CD-ROMs and online data. Gender and Water Alliance (GWA) is a network of 133 organisations and individuals from around the world with an independent steering committee. The Books and Publications section offers a mix of information and knowledge sharing activities such as electronic conferencing, a web site, advocacy leaflets and video, annual reports, capacity building and pilot programmes. are housing and urban development consultants providing access to details of books available through Amazon.com and reports, book chapters and conference papers to download. Global Environment Facility (GEF) established in 1991 helps developing countries fund projects and programs that protect the global environment. They produce publications which fall into several broad groups: general interest, thematic, strategy and operations and monitoring and evaluation. The Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) is an independent international institute offering post-graduate education, research and advisory services in the fields of housing, urban management and urban environmental management. IHE's library stocks material on these themes and a list of publications can be found online plus documents in pdf format. Institute of Development Studies (IDS) is an internationally renowned centre for research and teaching on development and it also hosts many innovative information and knowledge management services. The IDS Bookshop gives access to all IDS publications, many of which can be downloaded free of charge in pdf format. Institute of Water and Sanitation Development (IWSD) aims to assist in the achievement of sustainable development of water resources and waste management through the provision of support to development agencies in Zimbabwe and the Southern Africa region. International Water Association (IWA) is a global network of water professionals spanning the continuum between research and practice and covering all facets of the water cycle. The searchable online catalogue lists all IWA books and journals. Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) Publications MSF is an independent, humanitarian, medical aid agency. MSF Publications include a range of reports and reference books to download as pdf documents. MVULA Trust Publications and Documents The Mvula Trust has developed a number of documents. Swiss Federal Institute for Environmental Science and Technology (EAWAG) The Swiss national research centre for water pollution control produces scientific and project publications, books, annual reports and proceedings to download or order. UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs - Division for Sustainable Development (DSD) serves as the substantive secretariat responsible for servicing the Commission on Sustainable Development; for follow-up of the implementation of Agenda 21 as well as the Plan of Implementation of the World Summit on Sustainable Development. UN-HABITAT United Nations Human Settlement Programme is the UN agency with a mandate to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. its publications catalogue includes flagship publication and periodicals. IHE's mission is to contribute to the education and training of professionals and to build the capacity of sector organisations, knowledge centres and other institutions active in the fields of water, the environment and infrastructure, in developing and transitional countries. UNICEF Water, Environment and Sanitation Publications there are a variety of resources on water, sanitation, the environment and hygiene including UNICEF publications related to water and sanitation; technical, policy and advocacy publications from the UNICEF Water, Environment and Sanitation team; and fact sheets. Water and Sanitation Programme (WSP) Publications and Videos The WSP is an international partnership of the world's leading development agencies concerned with water and sanitation services for the poor.
