Step-by-step guide

Firm choice applicants

Our firm choice guarantee

If you make Loughborough your firm choice and you register for your accommodation before 24 July, we will guarantee you a room in University accommodation for your first year of study.

If you are an international fee paying student and you meet these criteria, we will guarantee you accommodation for two years of study provided you apply for your accommodation before the January deadline of the second year.

You will be able to register for accommodation online from early June – the Student Accommodation Centre will email you then with instructions on how to do this. Other than researching your options, you do not need to do anything before then.

Unconditional

Students with a unconditional offer will benefit from early room reservation between 5 June and 15 July. To do this, we recommend that you register your accommodation account from early June and research our 16 undergraduate halls of residence, making a list of which halls and rooms you like. You will then be ready to reserve your room on the Accommodation Hub. Make sure you accept your room offer within 5 days to secure your booking.

After 15 July, students with an unconditional offer will still be able to register on our Accommodation Hub, but you will need to wait until the room reservation system re-opens on 15-16 August to reserve a room.

Conditional

If your offer has conditions attached, such as achieving specific qualifications, your accommodation cannot be confirmed until these conditions have been met. For most students, this is usually after A Level results are released in August.

We will contact you with more information mid-July on how to apply for accommodation using our room reservation system when your place at Loughborough University has been confirmed.

Room reservation

If Loughborough is your firm choice and you registered for your accommodation before 24 July, you will be given a time slot to reserve your room in halls of residence. Room reservation takes place on 15-16 August. Watch our short video that takes you through the reservation process and what you need to prepare in advance.

If you have not met the criteria for our accommodation guarantee, you will still be given a time slot to apply for your accommodation. However, you will be asked to select five room preferences.

Your preferences will be used as a guide but we cannot guarantee that you’ll be offered one of your preferred rooms.

Insurance choice applicants

Once you have accepted an unconditional offer as insurance or through clearing, you will be able to apply for University accommodation from 10am on 19 August. Please refer to our step-by-step guide to familiarise yourself with our registration and room preference system in advance.

You will be able to select five preferences based on an area of campus, room type and catering option. Please note that accommodation is not guaranteed for insurance choice students. Where possible, we will offer places in halls subject to availability, but if we do not have the capacity to accommodate you, we promise to help you secure accommodation by referral to a University approved off-campus provider.

After you accept your accommodation offer

Once your accommodation has been confirmed, you will be invited to complete our hall induction process online where you can book an arrival slot for your allocated move-in date.

Each hall has an individual move-in date, check out our 2024 arrivals list to find out when you're invited to move into your new accommodation.
